We open in a night club, a woman stands alone at a bar trying to get the barman’s attention. A young man approaches her, clearly trying to put on a confident aura.
She looks up at him almost expectantly and raises an eyebrow, the man says “what’s a nice place like you doing in a girl like this?”
There’s an awkward silence.
Realising that he has just minced his words, a look of pure fear and embarrassment flashes across his face.
His head swells up like a balloon and pops in a cartoonish fashion leaving the woman looking confused.
The view through a car window driving down a main street – we catch a glimpse of a woman through a shop window.
As before we see the woman’s head swelling and popping like a balloon.
Cut to-
A funeral mass, a packed church. A man gets up to the lectern to deliver a eulogy. He smiles, tells a horrible joke and looks at the crowd of devastated friends and family members with a cheesy grin on his face, waiting for the laughter to commence,
We see the crowd look at him with disgust, all of them upset and mortified, a few members of the crowd start crying and bury their heads in their hands.
We see the man’s demeanour change to a look of fear and embarrassment as he realises he just told an inappropriate joke at a funeral.
His head swells up like a balloon and pops.
Cut to-
A zoom meeting with different members of a company. The Manager, looking stressed, says to the group “ANYONE?”
The group is silent for a moment as one of the employees head swells up and bursts, followed by another awkward silence as 3 more head swell up and pop.
The manager sighs and rubs her eyes. Five more heads pop.
We cut back to our guy from the opening scene and see a close up of him putting a “Hear, Hear” earbud in.
He smiles, supremely confident now and approaches the girl again.
VO: Get everything you need to say, every time you need to say it.
At the last minute he trips, upending his drink all over her, she sits stunned as a drip of lager falls from her nose. Cut to end resolve, pack shot and titles
